What to Expect

  • We begin with your concerns: high bills, uncomfortable rooms, drafts, humidity, equipment performance, or planned home improvements.

  • Depending on the service selected, we inspect insulation, air leakage pathways, HVAC equipment, accessible ductwork, crawlspaces, attics, and other areas that may affect performance.

  • We identify the most important findings and explain them in plain language. You will understand what is happening, why it matters, and which improvements should come first.

  • Your recommendations are prioritized so you can separate urgent problems from worthwhile improvements and lower-priority items.

FAQ’s

  • The Energy Consultation focuses on visual inspection, homeowner concerns, and professional recommendations. The Comprehensive Audit adds blower-door testing, infrared diagnostics, measurements, and a detailed written report.

  • Not always. If the condition of the insulation and the source of the problem are reasonably clear, an Energy Consultation may be sufficient. More complex comfort problems or major investments may justify diagnostic testing.

  • We inspect accessible areas that relate to energy use, comfort, moisture, and building performance. This may include living areas, attics, crawlspaces, basements, HVAC equipment, and accessible ductwork. The assessment is not a substitute for a structural, electrical, plumbing, mold, or real-estate home inspection.

  • An audit can identify likely sources of energy waste and help prioritize cost-effective improvements. Exact savings depend on weather, utility rates, occupant behavior, equipment performance, and the quality of the completed work.

  • Infrared imaging works best when there is a sufficient temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the home. Weather conditions may limit what can be observed during certain times of the year.

  • SBE can help with qualifying energy-efficiency improvements or connect you with the appropriate contractor when another specialty is required. Recommendations are based on what the home needs and not on selling a predetermined service.

  • Final pricing depends on the home’s size, age, location, accessibility, number of HVAC systems, and diagnostic requirements. Your price will be confirmed before the appointment.
